We’ve had the Jordan 12 ‘French Blue’ and now it’s time for the Jordan 12 RETRO ‘FLU GAME’ !
Originally released in 1997, this colourway got it’s 5 seconds of fame when Michael Jordan himself wore the colourway in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals that had the Chicago Bulls play and win against the Utah Jazz. The game, and consequently the shoe, was dubbed ‘The Flu Game’ because MJ played the game with Flu-like symptoms. Michael Jordan called his personal trainer the morning of that game curled up in pain and almost didn’t make it to the game.
The Nike Air Jordan 12 ‘Flu Game’ was retro’d for the first time in 2003, and then released again in 2009 but this was deemed to be a not so true to the original version of the shoe due to being built with a nubuck upper with a few other details different from the OG.
The 2016 version we’re getting this Saturday, May 28th, is a true RETRO OG version with full black-based uppers and Varsity Red accents on the sides.
The Nike Air Jordan 12 ‘FLU GAME’ will be available online and in-store from 9AM on Saturday May 28th, limited to one pair per customer.
